Miquel Àngel Pericàs developed synthetic methods in organic chemistry during his research career, combining experimental and theoretical studies. His most notable works have focused on the study of the Pauson-Khand reaction, asymmetric synthesis, development of supported catalysts and continuous flow processes.

During his scientific career he has received various awards, among which stand out: In 2000 the Distinction of the Generalitat de Catalunya for the Promotion of University Research, in 2001 the Janssen-Cylag award of the Royal Spanish Society of Chemistry for Research in Chemistry organic. In 2005 the Narcís Monturiol Medal of the Generalitat de Catalunya. In 2019 he received the Gold Medal of the Royal Spanish Society of Chemistry and in 2021 he was elected a member of the Barcelona Academy of Sciences and Arts and the European Academy.
