Originally from Isernia (Italy), Riccardo obtained a Master´s degree in Medicinal Chemistry from Università degli studi G. d’Annunzio (Italy) with one year as Erasmus student at Université de Reims Champagne-Ardenne (France). In France, he worked on the synthesis of potential antitumoral drugs, whereas his final year Master’s project focused on the synthesis of natural alkaloids. After a short period working in industry, Riccardo moved to England to undertake a one-year research project at Imperial College London, working on the mechanistic studies of new enantioselective organocatalytic reactions. In 2015, he joined the group of Prof. Hon Wai Lam at University of Nottingham (UK) for his doctoral studies, here his PhD focused on the metal-catalyzed enantioselective nucleophilic allylations of ketones. In January 2020, Riccardo started his postdoctoral studies in the group of Prof. Paolo Melchiorre at ICIQ in Tarragona (Spain) to expand his chemical knowledge and skills by learning about photochemistry. Outside of the lab, he enjoys keeping fit, playing basketball, reading, supporting ACF Fiorentina (a bit frustrating at times) and listening to music.
