Maryam Toufani got her bachelor’s degree in ceramic engineering from the University of Tabriz, Iran. Then she moved to Istanbul, Turkey, to do a master’s in material and nanoengineering at Sabanci University. Now, she is a Ph.D. student at the National University of Galway (NUIG), working on the synthesis of neutral and anionic rugged organic ligands to stabilize mixed metal oxide nanocrystals for selective water oxidation.
